CLASSICAL GREEK AND ROMAN DRAMA

Thursday Readings

Participatory reading/ open book

Thursday afternoons at 4:15 (continuing until done, probably ca. 6:00)

Scripps College Humanities 204

Refreshments will be served.

SCHEDULE:

Thursday February 5: Aristophanes, Lysistrata

February 19: Sophocles, Ajax

February 26: Plautus, The Braggart Soldier (Miles Gloriosus)

March 5 ?: Aeschylus, Prometheus Bound

March 26: Euripides, Helen

April 2: Terence, The Brothers (Adelphoi)

April 16: Seneca, Phaedra

April 23: Euripides, Orestes

THE FORMAT: Very informal; I will bring texts and we will share roles. If you just want to listen and watch, that is okay.  Those who are being “actors” will stand at the front, but there is no need for acting ability. I will also bring some minimal costumes and props. The point is just to enjoy ourselves and get to know some plays.
